KEVIN GORTER MEMORIAL ENDOWMENT TO PRESENT MAJOR DONATIONS TO CBSH AND HIFE PROGRAMS

Chicago, IL, November 19, 2018 – The Kevin Gorter Memorial Endowment will present the Chicago Blackhawks Special Hockey (CBSH) and Hockey Is For Everyone (HIFE) programs with donations of

$50,000 and $36,000 respectively on Saturday, November 24, 2018, at 12:30pm at Glacier Ice Arena in Vernon Hills, Illinois.

“We are incredibly humbled by this generous donation to our program. Funds will be used to help defray the cost of tournament travel for our families as well as establish a scholarship program to assist families that cannot afford the cost of the program. CBSH currently has 3 locations – Center Ice of DuPage in Addison, Artic Ice Arena in Orland Park, and MB Ice Arena in Chicago. We hope with this donation to continue to grow the Special Hockey discipline to serve the Lake County area.” – Melanie Freeman, CBSH Director

“HIFE is so honored and excited about this donation! With this money we will be able to expose even more kids to this awesome sport. We can’t thank the Kevin Gorter Memorial Endowment enough for their generosity. Hundreds of kids will benefit from their donation. Hockey gives so much to the kids who love it, and this donation will continue to give for years to come.” – Brit Volini, HIFE Director

As previously noted, the presentation will take place after the first game of the CBSH’s annual Thanksgiving Tournament. USA Hockey President, Jim Smith and Amateur Hockey Association Illinois, Inc., President, Mike Barrett will be present to accept the award with CBSH’s Melanie Freeman and on behalf of HIFE’s Director, Brit Volini.

“We encourage the Illinois hockey community to come out and support our Special hockey players during our annual Thanksgiving Tournament. In addition to the presentation of this amazing gift, the hockey community will enjoy some amazing games, gift basket raffles, 50/50 split-the-pot and chuck-a-puck. We hope to see everyone there!” – Melanie Freeman
